Angelflow Event Notes: Everything you need to know about Angel Investing July 3 2024

A packed house at Garage Society on July 3rd as soon to be launched Angelflow held a seminar all about Angel Investing.

For those who are not aware of what Angelflow does, essentially this is a platform that enables investors to build, launch, manage, and invest in angel syndicates.

This solution simplifies the process for investors to form syndicates to identify investment opportunities.

The website has not yet launched but has created a waitlist for those interested.

As for the event itself we had a panel discussion on a wide variety of topics with guest speakers and experienced angel investors Lui Tong and TJ Yen alongside Angelflow CEO Sean Greenhalgh.

Most of the attendees identified themselves as being from a startup background interested in funding opportunities.

The speakers covered every facet of angel investing from the number of investment opportunities they receive, how they evaluate each opportunity, what they look for in a founding team, as well as some sharing on past investments that were both good and bad experiences.

What was interesting to learn about is what type of investment opportunity they may look at, how they emphasize getting to know the founders and founding team, and how important it is to be able to execute a plan and strategy. Startup knowledge on the market they plan to target is important as well as the market size and opportunity and ability to sell to the market.

Also of interest was from the investor perspective of investment in a startup as part of a diversified portfolio where only a very small percentage of companies may reach unicorn status - hence a brad number of investments with a long-term investment horizon of 7-10 years is important.

Overall, an informative evening and it is very encouraging to see the startup scene growing - very much alive and in good shape!
